Why you should promote your company on Google My Business

It’s a fact that almost every single Australian with a smartphone or computer uses Google at least once a day. Thanks to Google My Business, we can find all sorts of products and services near us.

What is Google My Business?

It’s a free and easy-to-use platform which promotes business listings. Often, marketing specialists and business owners neglect the tech giant’s free platform, but we definitely recommend that you don’t.

And why should you promote your brand on Google My Business? Because Google receives more than 90% of all online searches, and the more you use their products, the better the platform will rank your business. In other words, if you want to be part of the google search game, you’ll have to learn how to play it (trust us, it’s not as hard as it sounds).

The perks of Google My Business

There are several benefits to Google My Business, and all of them come down to exposure.

  1. No cost!

As we mentioned before, it’s a free platform created to increase business’s online exposure. You can display all your information from opening hours, website, contact details to products, discounts, services and more.

Some paid local business listings are very effective, but they usually come with a fee and they don’t guarantee any results.

  2. Climb the Google Search and map ladder

Picture Google as a real estate company: when you search for a product, service or business, all those results that show on the first pages are la creme de la creme. Most users won’t go any further than that first page.

The first three listings highlighted are the paid ads, followed by organic search results. The more complete your Google My Business profile is, the higher Google ranks you and the more clicks you get- potentially more sales or even more website traffic.

  3. The power of Google Reviews

When searching on Google Maps or the regular search engine, you’ll see the star-rating and reviews under the business information. If you think those reviews don’t matter, think twice.

The Google reviews have proven to be such an important social validation that they have proven to affect all businesses, especially smaller companies who rely on organic methods to promote themselves in local areas.

All in all, a 5-star Google listing with multiple reviews from happy customers will go a long way in encouraging a searcher to click on your website and make an enquiry.

  4. Give your customers the best user experience you can

We like to call Google My Business the “Instagram for companies”. You can share engaging content regularly and make sure you any potential client or buyer is aware of special opening hours, new products, services or discounts.

If you give users the opportunity to message you through Google Maps, your facilitating the first interaction. Again, free of charge and very easy to manage!

  5. Insights to make the most of it

Any marketing activity worlds best when you measure your results. Google My Business provides great and detailed insights that can help you adjust those posts and information according to your goals.

Once you have set up your GMB profile and begin posting regular updates, you can measure the number of views per post and profile, what users are searching for when they find your business, engagement and number of clicks, and a pretty good description of your audience demographics.
